The broadcast language is a programming formalism devised by Holland in 1975, which originally aimed at improving the efficiency of Genetic Algorithms. Holland argued that the broadcast language could also be employed to model and evolve biochemical networks, however he did not support this approach with any experimental studies. This report addresses the design and implementation issues for software to evolve closed control systems of CSNs. The report initially details the specification and implementation of the Holland's broadcast language. We review the Holland broadcast language, then propose a specification and implementation of the language which is later illustrated with different case studies. Through these experiments, we identify some of the limitations of Holland's broadcast language with regards to the evolution of a closed control systems of Cell Signaling Networks. We conclude the report by addressing these deficiencies and outline how these are overcome.
